When Chris felt you moving in your sleep, it woke him he assumed maybe you got warm and wanted him to loosen his grip as you were sweating, but he realized the sweating wasn’t because of heat. He paid closer attention to you and noticed the heavy and uneven breathing, your cheeks glistening with tears, you were having a nightmare from your ptsd. He holds you tighter, just wanting to you some type of comfort but it probably wouldn’t work, at least hopefully it’ll help you calm down when you awoke.

Eventually you did wake up and he could tell as you immediately held him tighter while hyperventilating, he could also tell you were trying your best to take deep breaths but it seemed like you were too panicked right now.

“It’s okay..” he whispers into your ear and caresses your back with both hands “wasn’t real, sweetheart. You’re okay, you’re with me.”
