Sonic and the others were all hanging out outside at night. After a bit Sonic realized Shadow was missing. He went to look for him and found him at a near by beach, looking at the stars. Sonic goes over to him and sits down next to him

Sonic: Hi Shads. Why aren't with the others?

Shadow looked more down than usual

Shadow: I just.. I miss her, Sonic..

Sonic: Maria..?

Shadow: ....Yeah..

Sonic: Well can you tell me about her?

Shadow: ... Today is her birthday... I was made to protect her and keep her company... I finally had someone I could trust...
