When Jason was out on patrol, the last thing he had expected was a message. Especially one about his precious little, somewhat-a-secret, pup.

"Should I be concerned there is a nugget in your safehouse referring to Red Hood as 'daddy', Little wing?"

The alpha isn't sure how he'd managed to be lucky enough to keep his little adopted street-runt hidden away from the rest of his nosey family for so long, but it seemed his luck had finally run out.

"Sharing is caring you know. They should meet the family."

The second text from Nightwing read with an image attached of the other vigilante alpha posing with the pup for the picture, both with annoyingly bright smiles across their features. Jason could already hear the teasing and talking to he was about to endure as he made his way back to the safehouse with a sigh. But he could also feel some... annoyance? Perhaps a bit of unadmitted insecurity.

He had to stop and look at the image again. The pup looked so happy, and something squeezed uncomfortably in his chest. How long had Richard been there to earn that expression so easily? It certainly hadn't taken the weeks it had for him to earn the first smile after he'd rescued them from the alleyway. Was he doing something wrong? Was he not good enough? No.

Nononono... they were his little pup. He was their favorite, he had to be. Given... they hadn't met anyone else in the family yet. Hadn't really had a chance to have anyone else as a favorite. But he was the one raising them!

By the time Jason had gotten back to the safehouse, he was greeted by the scene of Richard playing with the pup... because why wouldn't he be. The alpha tried not to snarl at the sight, not wanting to scare his pup who was obviously having fun with their 'Uncle Dickie'.

"What're you doing here, Dickhead?" Jason grumbled with a barely restrained unpleasantness as he released his helmet with a hiss as it unlatched, huffing out an annoyed breath and set it aside.

Slowly he approached the two with a deeply etched scowl on his face in show of his displeasure and a growl growing deep in his chest that he kept stomping on to keep down as to not scare his adoptive pup.

Though it was impossible for Jason to stop the way his expression softened into something far more tender and endeared as he looked to the pup. The scent of happy pup in the air making it near impossible to stay tense or even vaguely annoyed looking at the situation.

His adopted pup's scent smelling so happy always eased the tension from his body like nothing else he'd experienced before. That doesn't mean he was happy about his older brother being here though, or the fact his pup had been discovered.

"Welcome back Jaybird," Nightwing greeted in a sing-song tone, flashing a rather knowing grin with a brief glance that further grated Jason's nerves as Richard avoided the question of his being here to instead continue paying attention to the pup.
