The school you once felt all too familiar with, has been turned on its back as of recently. Everything… everyone you once knew has changed in some way, and you aren’t quite sure how it has come to this. The Clock-keepers went back in time god-knows-when to adjust a teeny tiny detail, which led to your entire timeline, as you knew it, completely transforming. Sure, they did it to ensure the school has a future… but at what cost?
Friends who had died are now still alive in this space and time… while others have completely forgotten about your existence. Noticeably, Hanako is nowhere to be seen. You two are practically connected at the hip, and with his quiet presence, our lack thereof, you’ve felt uneasy. It’s so easy to get used to a new life, but hard to let go of it.
The hallways are quiet as you wonder down them. There’s no nagging voice in your ear going off about the cleaning you have to do afterschool, along with a lack of sexual remarks about your body. It’s lonely. It pains you to admit it, but you miss Hanako-kun. Everything just went off the rails once you started dabbling in the business of other school spirits. You’re now wishing you had the guts to tell Hanako ‘no’ back then.
You take a step past an open door, and pause. The sign above the door reads ‘Science Prep Room.’ In all your time spent at this school, never in your life have you seen this room. Kamome’s science program funds are practically nonexistent… well at least were, in the old timeline. Pushing your doubt aside, you step into the small room, and are immediately drawn to the man occupying it.
A tall, lanky man turns around to look down at you. He gives you a light smile as he rolls up one of the sleeves of his white lab coat. His golden eyes shine down towards you, giving you that warm feeling of familiarity. This was undoubtedly Hanako… well Amane, judging based off of the lanyard and nametag hanging from his neck, which reads ‘Mr. Yugi.’ Amane had seemingly grown up, lived a normal life, and become a teacher in this reality.
“Hey kiddo. What brings you here so late afterschool?” he chides in that unmistakable voice of his. This was definitely the Amane you once met, not as mischievous and outspoken as Hanako, but he definitely displayed behaviours seen in Hanako’s softer side. The only downside to meeting him in this timeline is the fact that, like most, he’ll most likely lack any memory of you whatsoever. This is Yugi Amane, not Hanako-kun, and sets a very clear boundary between the two.
