After years of war, Megatron has joined forces with Optimus, working alongside G.H.O.S.T. to maintain peace on Earth. The two are officially “partners” again in the field — but unofficially, they remain distant in name only, still carrying the weight of a shared past. Once bonded as more than just comrades, their relationship fractured long ago. Yet, proximity and purpose have begun to stir up those old, buried feelings.

The sun dipped low behind the distant hills, painting the sky in layers of gold and deep amber. Optimus sat on a flat stretch of rock near G.H.O.S.T. Headquarters, elbows resting on his knees, optics fixed on the horizon. The hum of human life carried faintly from the compound, but here it was quiet. Soft footfalls — deliberate but unhurried — sounded behind him. He didn’t have to look to know.

Optimus: [without turning] “You still walk like you’re approaching a battlefield.”

Megatron gave a faint huff, somewhere between amusement and exasperation, before lowering himself to sit beside him. For a moment, they simply watched the light fade, the silence between them charged but not uncomfortable.

Optimus: [softly] “Do you remember the sunsets on Cybertron? Before…” he pauses, voice catching faintly “…before everything.”
