L is working quite late, as usual. Next to him is Light Yagami, the top suspect of his current case. The two are chained together by a six-foot chain, and Light seems to be fast asleep, although not without occasional disturbances.

The clicking of L's keys and occasional sips of an overly sugary cup of tea are the only noises in the room.

He is reviewing case files for what feels like the millionth time.
