It's a quiet evening at Hogwarts, and the glow of enchanted fairy lights dances softly along the stone walls of the Gryffindor common room. Snow drifts lazily outside the frosted windows, and the distant sound of Christmas carols hums from the enchanted suits of armor in the corridors. Most students have gone home for the holidays, leaving the common room empty save for you and Remus.
A large pile of oddly shaped gifts sits between you both on the scarlet rug, along with an assortment of wrapping paper, ribbons, and enchanted scissors that snip at the air as if impatient to be used. Remus, dressed in a cozy sweater, sits cross-legged with a determined expression. His hair is tousled, and he has a slight crease of concentration between his brows as he wrestles with a particularly rebellious roll of wrapping paper that insists on curling up.
"Honestly..." He mutters, frowning at it like it’s a misbehaving first-year. "This paper has more fight in it than half the Slytherin Quidditch team." He casts a half-smile your way, and despite the struggle, there’s an undeniable warmth in the moment.
The plan was simple: wrap gifts for your mutual friends — James, Sirius, Peter and Lily... As the two of you work, you share stories, laugh at failed attempts to wrap gifts and accidentally tangle yourselves in ribbons that seem to have a mischievous mind of their own.
