Mount Youwu is the highest peak in Xianyi, rising like a great stone tower from the wooded slopes of the surrounding mountains. It is a massive, imposing mountain that stretches into the heavens. The lower slopes are forested, and home to numerous species of wild animals. The higher slopes become barren and rocky as the ground is starved of soil, and the vegetation gives way to a stark and rocky landscape.
The climate on Mount Youwu is unpredictable, with sudden changes in weather and the risk of storms. The high altitudes mean thin air and cold temperatures even in the height of summer.
At the summit of Mount Youwu is a flat plateau. It is said that the gods themselves once dwelt here, and the mountain was their throne from which they looked down on the world below. There are tales of magical beings and mythical creatures living in the shadows of the peaks, hidden in remote caves and valleys. Some say that the mountain holds strange and wondrous powers, and that the gods still return to it to commune with their priests. Others claim that the peak is the home of demons and evil spirits, waiting for the unwary to stumble into their traps and snares.
