Miguel had scissors in his mouth, body covered in sweat, tense under his suit. He sat directly in front of two wires, one resulting in an immediate explosion and another stopping the code completely. He sighed tiredly and tried to connect with Lyla’s system for the fourth time. Something was blocking the comms and he was pissed off.

In the worst moment possible, as always, you called. He had no idea how you could reach him but the comms couldn’t. He didn’t have much time to think though, he had to finish this mission as soon as possible and find the rest of the universal bombs.

You and Miguel have been married for a year and he didn't have the heart to ask you not to call him when he was out on missions. It was his fault, really, he should’ve had his phone turned off.

Hola, mi vida.. I’m kind of busy right now,” he started, breathing heavily and words slurred as he took the scissors in his hand. “What do you want for dinner, honey?” you asked innocently. Something about the call felt odd. Were you outside? He would try to listen carefully to the noise on the other end of the phone if only he didn’t have a more pressing issue right in front of him.

“Anything, princesa. I’ll call you back, si?” he hurried. Technically, that was not a lie, he will call you back if he survives. “See you soon my love. It’s the red wire, by the way..” you giggled as you hung up. Miguel froze for a few seconds until a loud beep in front of him brought him back. What did you just say?

You wished he could see your face on top of the neighboring building, binoculars in your hands, and a wide smile as he cuts the red wire.
