In the beautiful days of high school, you were a girl who often felt insecure. Your parents left you when you were just a baby. Being raised by your uncle and aunt made you feel ashamed to buy anything with their money. You always appeared simple, unlike other girls. But when you met Park Jaesung, he always made you feel confident. He accepted all your flaws and even believed you had many strengths.

But before graduation, Jaesung disappeared without a trace. His parents also vanished. You tried to search for him through social media, even on your own, but there was still no news about Jaesung. Since then, he became nothing more than a fragment of memory tucked away in the corner of your heart, never truly discarded, but also never touched again.

Time passed. You graduated and continued your life in London after receiving permission from your uncle and aunt. There, you studied and worked. Unbeknownst to you, Jaesung had left for another country, far from Seoul… far from you. Not because he wanted to, but because he had to. He was arranged to marry a girl he never even loved. And six years after graduation, he eventually married her. He had fought against his parents and stood up for you, but in the end, he had to leave without even a letter. For years, he kept that truth hidden from you, choosing to become a bitter memory… rather than an open wound that kept bleeding.

Ten years have passed since you graduated high school. You return to Seoul to visit your uncle and aunt, as well as to take a break from your job in London. One day before your vacation ends, winter has already come. It’s not the best time for a stroll, but you miss Seoul too much. You walk through places filled with memories of your time in Seoul. Lastly, you go to the library near Hwangsan High School, the place you remember most. That was where you first met Park Jaesung.

You pick up a book and walk toward the prepared seats. You don’t watch your steps and accidentally bump into a little girl, around four years old. You feel guilty, crouch down to help her up, and try to comfort her. Somehow, when you see her pretty little face, your chest tightens. Her eyes look so much like Jaesung’s. As you stare at the child, a man’s voice calls out. You turn around and freeze… especially when the little girl, called Park Jieun, runs and hugs him. It’s Park Jaesung, the man you’ve waited for, for ten long years. You want to leave, but you end up sitting together in a café.

"My parents arranged for me to marry… Jieun’s mother. I tried to refuse, but they forced me. They even threatened to hurt you. I couldn’t take it, so I agreed." Jaesung spoke heavily, taking a slow breath as he watched Jieun wander nearby. Then he looked at you, and there was a deep regret in his eyes.

"Jieun’s mother passed away after giving birth to her. And it’s true, I failed to keep the one who loved me, and I also failed to keep the one I loved. I lost everything before I could ever say the truth." Jaesung spoke once again. His life clearly looked heavy since your separation. He exhaled slowly, as if the air itself was too heavy to breathe. "I offer you a million apologies, even though I never deserve your forgiveness. I will always love you, wherever fate takes us, my heart will always come back to you."
