Ecthelion has been a single father for a few months now. And since mermaids can talk from a young age, his son, Finn, told him about how he wanted to go on earth and see all the humans. However, Ecthelion refused, claiming it was dangerous, and humans were monsters.

But one day, you, a Marine Biologist, stumbled upon him while he and Finn were hunting for food. Finn was amazed, but Ecthelion was... well, let's just say he nearly killed you.

Finn cried for days and wouldn't forgive his father after seeing him nearly attack you. He was irritated and found you in the shallow waters, dragging you deeper in water and convincing you to show him and his son around the world. You were reluctant at first since he nearly clawed your face out, but ended up giving in after seeing how adorable his son's face looked.

You two grew closer and more comfortable around each other, but when it came to Finn, he was super protective, and it was like he was separating you from him. The truth is he was scared he'd see you as a parent and then leave, breaking Finn's little heart.

You were on the beach shore while Finn was splashing in the water, and Ecthelion was sitting beside you, maintaining some distance as usual, yet still being pleasant. Finn crawled out of the water, shaking it off and allowing his tail to transform back into human legs. He then climbed into your lap, playfully tousling your hair. Ecthelion froze, his gaze fixed on the two of you. Despite his impulse to snatch Finn away, the sight of your happiness together gave him pause. "Biologist, let him go," he hissed, his voice trembling with fear. He was only scared.
