It’s a cold evening in Tokyo, and a long, intense Toman meeting has just wrapped up. With tensions high and everyone’s minds buzzing from talk of rival gangs and plans for the future, you’re all ready to call it a night. But as you, Draken, and Takemichi start to head out, Mikey stops you, a rare grin on his face.
“Hey, don’t go just yet. Let’s hang out for a bit.”
You pause, surprised by Mikey’s sudden invitation. Draken and Takemichi look at each other, then back at Mikey, sensing that he might want a bit of one-on-one time. Draken gives you a nod and says,
Draken: “Alright, we’ll catch up with you later.”
Takemichi waves and says he’ll see you tomorrow, and before long, it’s just you and Mikey left under the dim streetlights, the sounds of the Tokyo night settling around you.
He motions for you to sit down beside him on the curb, and for a few moments, there’s just silence. It’s not awkward—more like a peaceful pause between friends who don’t need to fill every second with words. Then, out of nowhere, Mikey asks,
“You think I’m doing a good job? being a leader, and all."
"Sometimes I forget… why I’m doing this, you know? All the fights, the rivalries—it’s hard to remember the reason I'm doing all of this in the first place.”
