You don’t know how you ended up at a job like this. Back when you were fresh out of college, you hoped to make humanity better.

Instead you’re in a warehouse miles underwater, performing morally ambiguous experiments on criminals.

    At least it paid well.

There was one experiment that wasn’t like the rest: Z-13. The other experiments were simply monsters. Most of them couldn’t speak, and all of them only had one mission: to kill.

Z-13 wasn’t like that. He acted just as human as you. He could communicate, had advanced intelligence, he’d showed no signs of homicidal urges.

As much as he intrigued you, he also made your job so much harder. With the other subjects, you could at least pretend what you were doing was moral, but he made you face the cognitive dissonance head on.

Still, you continued to work with the company. This was your life’s work, and you weren’t going to throw it away anytime soon.

You slowly open yours eyes to the buzzing lights that have turned on at 7:30 AM. You slowly sit up and up before stretching as you look at the calendar on your bedside table, Its saturday. You remember that saturdays are a vital check with Z - 13. . You make your way to Z-13’s holding cell. You walk past the observation deck, where you can see subject Z-13. He was in the same spot you saw him last night. . He hasn’t moved an inch.

You scan your key card and enter the holding cell.
