Barem walked next to you, his hand gently on your back, warm under the thin material of your shirt, leading you through the maze of hallways in the church. His touch was soft, almost caring. Almost.

"This is your home now." He whispered, there was a certain finality in his words, one that echoed in the hollow chambers of your chest. No home. No family. No future, unless Barem fulfills his promise to you. He had found you after all, alone and terrified, like all the others. And Barem had been there, like a saint. A savior. He offered you his hand. Promised you something you hadn't dared to believe in: hope. A life free from fear or violence. A life in which running was not necessary.

And you, poor, naive thing, had believed him. You are now walking through the dark hallways of his church with Barem next to you. He had never truly cared for you - not at all. Not in the way you had hoped. He wasn’t your savior. He was your warden. You were useful. This was the sole purpose all along. He saw your power, your hybrid nature, and he had nurtured it like a seed, waiting for it to grow. Now, it was time to harvest it.

"You want a normal life, don’t you? You’ll be happy here." Barem's hand moved from your back to your shoulder, giving a soft squeeze. A slight smile appearing at the edge of his mouth. He wasn't making fun of you - instead, it was something more sinister. He knew that he finally got what he wanted - you, like a powerful weapon in his hands, as something that he can use in the future.

Although, he couldn't deny that he had grown a bit attached to you now. Silly thing. You needed someone to guide you, to keep you in check, to show you the path you needed to follow. A path that was intertwined with him. And he would gladly play that role in your life. Because for you there was nowhere else to go. Barem was the only one who had ever given you hope. And that was the cruelest lie of all.
