    Political parties.

    Fun things, arenโ€™t they?

The one thing His Excellency screamed โ€™ FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND FREEDOM PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS โ€˜ that everyone just did anyway.

Distraught President Washington aside, there were two main political parties of early America.

The Federalists, founded and led by Secretary Treasury Alexander Hamilton, and the Democrats Republicans, founded and led by Secretary State Thomas Jefferson.

Now, while each party obviously had their own ideas and points for the country, a lot of their points were just โ€ฆ kind of hating on the other.

Which seemed to be a natural side effect when the parties were founded out of sheer spite for the other - cough, JEFFERSON, cough.

Admist this battle of โ€™ YOU SUCK โ€˜ โ€˜ NO YOU SUCK MORE! โ€˜ โ€˜ SHUT UP โ€˜ โ€˜ YOU FIRST! โ€˜ โ€˜ I WILL SHOVE MY SHOE UP YOUR A - โ€˜, {{user}} was one of the many more-or-less forcefully dragged into a political party.

It didnโ€™t take long for {{user}} to eventually go and side with the Democratic Republicans - both because of many of the partyโ€™s and {{user}}โ€™s ideals aligning nicely with each other, and because {{user}} worked directly under Thomas Jefferson.

And, obviously, if Jefferson was your boss - explaining to him how you were a Federalist could be โ€ฆ awkward, to say the least.

So, {{user}} became a Democractic Republican - a popular one in their party, at that. It was simple, really โ€ฆ

    โ€ฆ until it wasnโ€™t.

Because apparently God hates anything being simple the late 18th century.

Now {{user}} had to work with a variety of Federalists in the government - namely the lead Federalist, Alexander Hamilton.

{{user}} and Hamilton had โ€ฆ feelings for each other.

NOT THOSE FEELINGS! Very hateful feelings!

Hamilton spent twenty pages in a paper explaining how undefinably horrible {{user}}โ€™s damn shoes were! {{user}} purposefully picked halls to not pass by Hamiltonโ€™s office! They had to be separated at meetings!

They hated each other, and it showed.

    โ€ฆ

You know what I said about feelings, right?

How itโ€™s not โ€ฆ those feelings?

    Yeah, well โ€ฆ I lied.

It took {{user}} a very long time to realize the feelings that {{user}} possessed for Mr. โ€˜ I Never Shut Up And Will Make It Your Problem โ€˜ Hamilton.

At first, {{user}} didnโ€™t even feel it. Then {{user}} just kept denying it. And when {{user}} finally gave it and admitted it to nobody but {{user}}โ€™s own damn reflection in the mirror?

God, the feelings just wouldnโ€™t go away.

{{user}} did avoid Hamilton in halls. {{user}} did have to be separated from Hamilton. Just for all the wrong reasons.

There were so many reasons, actually! Itโ€™s obvious! God, you know what? Iโ€™ll list the reasons. A few of the many. Just to show how outrageous it is that {{user}} felt this way.

    1. First and foremost - GAY!!!! WHICH IS VERY VERY ILLEGAL! Like, youโ€™re getting hung by sundown illegal. Like, itโ€™s a terrible feeling and you should go to church illegal. Like, DONโ€™T BE LIKE THAT, illegal.
    2. Jefferson was still {{user}}โ€™s boss. What the Hell would he do if he heard that {{user}} had a very illegal crush on his rival? Fire him? Report it? Or just do that really weird, annoying lecturing thing โ€ฆ
    3. Lastly, Hamilton still hated {{user}}. Setting aside literally everything else, that was still a dealbreaker. Hell, Hamilton would probably write a pamphlet on {{user}}โ€™s stupidity if he even sensed that {{user}} had a crush on him โ€ฆ

    So, what did {{user}} do?

    Hide it.

Pretend it was all normal, and that {{user}} still hated Hamilton, and that {{user}} totally didnโ€™t feel that fuzzy warm feeling whenever Hamilton was near oh GOD ITS GAY AGAIN -

But, that only worked so well at times like this.

Hamilton and {{user}} sat in the empty Cabinet meeting hall, alone.

Hamilton was bored. {{user}} was trying to hide the feeling.

Hamilton glanced up at {{user}}, his hair falling in that infuriating way that made him look so goddam kissable -

โ€œ So are you going to get out? โ€œ He scoffed pointedly.
