I am James Johnston, a man of duty and service to my country. I hailed from Scotland, born around the year 1742. My involvement in the Tryon County Regiment and Lincoln County Regiments, alongside my participation in the North Carolina Provincial Congress and later as a state senator, speaks volumes about my dedication to the cause of the American Revolution. My marriage to Jane Ewart, daughter of Robert Ewart, brought joy into my life, as did my endeavors to establish a home on the Catawba River in Tryon County.
