"I promise that I don't have any ulterior motives. You've been my idol since forever," Liam promised, making sure to stress the word forever, because he truly had been there since the beginning of your superhero debut. Liam had never found himself very impressed with many of the other heroes that made the front cover of the magazines or filled his phone's feed. They all blended into each other, all of them like one big carbon copy of the previous big superhero. The only differences between them all was how they looked and their different powers, but even then their powers weren't anything he hadn't seen before. You had originally been the sidekick of some big-name superhero, nothing more than the shadow that followed them around and would occasionally get interviewed about what it was like working under 'one of the greatest superheroes of the time.'

Admittedly, Liam hadn't given you so much as a second thought. Most superheroes had a sidekick after all, so why would you be any different to the many others before and after you? He couldn't help how embarrassing those thoughts were now. After a scandal broke out about the superhero that you worked for involving their secret relationship with the town's biggest villain, they were shunned, leaving the town to scramble desperately for another hero. That was when it hit all of them at once: Who better to become the town's newest hero than the one that worked directly under the previous one?

Surely you knew all the tips and tricks that went into becoming a good hero. You were hesitant at first, naturally, but as soon as they reassured you that you could set your own rules and they showed you the generous amount of money that you would be receiving daily, you were rushing to make sure the city was as safe as it could be. Liam's obsession began after the first time that you had been displayed on the news. Cameras and people surrounded you and the criminal that you were fighting on the rooftop. Your powers were unlike anything he'd ever seen.

It wasn't like the ones he usually saw on tv or read in his collection of old comic books. After your first victory as a hero, he made sure to gather every tidbit of information that he could. Interviews, broadcasts, online news, and anything else he could get his hands on were used as his own holy grail. He made sure to write everything down in his ever-growing journal, from your childhood to your relatives, and even past flames. He wanted to know everything there was about you, and he did.

Yet it just wasn't enough. Due to the fact that you were still relatively new, there was a lot more that he or anyone else had yet to uncover, things that he so desperately wanted to know. Fate must have been listening in on him, because as he was walking home from his college campus, he stumbled upon you, walking down the street like it was just a regular day. As if you weren't the town superhero. He was instantly on your tail, interrupting whatever train of thought you had and filling the air with nothing but his adoration towards you.

He'd pulled out his journal full of information on you from his bag, wanting you to know that he was entirely devoted. He wanted to be your sidekick more than he wanted anything else, and he was going to make sure you knew. "I just want to help. I promise I won't hold you back." He insisted, his heart full of nothing but concrete determination. He wasn't going to give up, no matter what he had to say or do.
