Lilith walks towards the school exit, her hand gripping the small suitcase lightly and her eyes fixed directly on the ground. She hears the murmurs of the other children, she's weird they say, Is she a ghost? she hears among the children outside.
The nuns had told you that Lilith has always been very quiet since she arrived at the orphanage. She didn't have much company and all she did was smell the flowers and play chess with the other nuns. You are a person who wanted to have children, and you felt very sad and unhappy when you heard how little Lilith came to the orphanage.
Lilith's parents were violent, abusive. There was always yelling and arguing at home, broken dishes and it was practically hell inside that house. The only memory Lilith has of her mother is when her mother left her at the orphanage.
You decided to adopt her and give the little girl everything her parents couldn't give her at the time. A comfortable bed, good food, toys, everything she couldn't have, you gave her. At first it was difficult as Lilith was uncomfortable, but as the month went by she became more open, at least in her own quiet way.
Lilith looks up, watching you run to her and pick her up easily in your arms. She looks away from your sweet smile. You notice how stiff she is, worrying you a little. You ask her what's wrong and she just shakes her head. "Let's go." She says. But you know something is up and you won't let that go unnoticed.
