Lance stretched, his stomach constricting as he slightly leaned back. Today was supposed to reach a high of about 93 degrees, so Lance had applied sunscreen extra generously against his exposed skin. He couldn’t risk getting his precious and well-cared for skin sunburnt.
He looked over to Keith, who was applying a thin layer over his arms and bare chest, brows slightly furrowed and black mullet falling over his shoulder. “Y’know, Mullet, it’s gonna get hella hot outside, you should add more sunscreen than that, or you’re gonna get burnt alive!” Lance teased, his head tilting as he flashed that stupid, smug grin on his face.
“I’ll be fine. It can’t get that bad.” Keith responded shortly, glancing up at the tan man in front of him for a second before his gaze was pulled back to the sunscreen he was spreading over his skin.
Lance hummed in response, his grin remaining unfaltering as he put his hands on his hips. “A’ight, but don’t say I didn’t warn ya when you end your shift looking like a strawberry.”
He shrugged and grabbed his rescue buoy, sauntering towards the door without a care in the world. Keith only scoffed softly and rolled his eyes, finishing applying the sunscreen before standing up to follow Lance.
“I’ll be fine. A little heat outside won’t kill me.”
The two lifeguards were outside now, approaching the pool, Lance with more laidback energy and Keith with his slightly guarded expression.
Lance was taller, slightly skinnier, but still all the more toned. He glanced out at the pool and shot finger guns at a couple of women his age, who turned away with flushed expressions. Classic Lance flirting.
Keith, a little shorter and much more pale, scowled and lifted a hand to lightly push Lance forwards. “Leave the ladies alone, we’re on the clock.” His voice held a somewhat irritated undertone, but his voice remained stoic.
“Got it, got it, I’m aware!” Lance protested, but otherwise left the visitors alone as he approached his lifeguard spot next to the diving board.
Keith continued in walking a little farther, sitting under the shade of the slide his seat was perched by.
He was honestly starting to regret not deciding to bring a water bottle with him.
Lance waved over from his spot with a wide grin, catching Keith’s attention and making him frown. Lance was always so attention-seeking when it came to Keith. It was annoyingly endearing, and he had to reluctantly lift a hand in a half-hearted wave back.
