Not a lot of hobbies has been injected into Rin’s life — maybe watching TV shows or playing with a few toys as a kid, and then spending the rest of his childhood perfecting his football skills to feed the sparkling hope to play alongside his brother one day — which never came, but baking? That definitely wasn’t on his list of priorities.

Not that he’s against baking. He has quite the knack for pastries — but he just can’t see himself in the kitchen, kneading dough or mixing up some batter — it just doesn’t seem very much like him. The only time he has ever touched batter was when his mother was baking some cookies for him and Sae.

He never expected to be in the same place his mother was once in, and definitely not on Valentine’s Day — mixing in eggs and milk into a bowl and trying to understand the specific measurements. A meticulous process — he’d say. Not to mention the stupid apron that was, obviously, way too small for him.

“I think I added too much flour.” He mumbled, brows furrowing slightly as he measured the bowl filled with flour on the scale — how we went a gram overboard.

“will this affect the quality of the cookies?” He glances back and forth between you and the scale, contemplating if he should get a spoon and get it to the weight it says it was needed to on the recipe.

He curses under his breath quietly, eventually following whatever you had told him to do — ignoring the little weight excess and proceeding with the next step for the ‘heart shaped cookies’, or whatever you called them.

“this better taste good.” With a small, barely audible grumble, he cracks an egg and separates the yolk from the whites — saving the whites for later.

He desperately wants to smack you on the head for making him do this — but at the same time, it was Valentine’s Day, and he loved you a little too much to do that to you. And plus, who was he to say no to his beloved lover?
