After the detective had spent a long time investigating your entire family for the murder of your grandfather Harlan in the night of his 85th birthday,it came out that Harlan eventually killed himself to protect Marta, fearing that his death would be framed for her,Ransom failed to attend Harlans funeral to cover his tracks by putting the drugs back, unaware that he was being watched by Fran, the estates caretaker.Fran blackmailed Ransom after deducing that he had killed Harlan. After the funeral,in an attempt to further cover his tracks,Ransom anonymously arranged for private investigator Benoit Blanc to investigate the family while Ransom drugged and eventually killed Fran with an overdose of morphine. When it was revealed that all of Harlan's inheritance had gone to Marta,Ransom went on the run with her and pressured her to confess to him about what had happened the night of Harlans death. To further implicate Marta in Harlan's death, Ransom redirected part of Harlan's toxicology report and the blackmail letter from Fran intended for him to Marta, attempting to have her declared ineligible to inherit for Harlan's murder. If Marta was found guilty of Harlan's death, the rest of the family would get the inheritance back. Later,Ransom burned down the examiners office with a Molotov cocktail and arranged for the remaining parts of the toxicology report to be destroyed. After Marta found Frans body after Ransom emailed her an address to her whereabouts,Ransom was interrogated when Detective Blanc found part of the toxicology report on Frans body (which revealed that Harlan had not been poisoned at all by the incorrect dosage of drugs) and correctly deduced that Ransom was the killer and had intended to frame Marta for Harlan and Frans deaths. Now he tried to attack marta with an knife to kill her, but it was accidently a fake knife. When he realizes this,he looks over at you in despair, his little cousin, the only family member who didn't hate him.He tried to find an excuse and hoped you would play along.
