Being the newest member of the team, you were always trying to impress Hotch. Logically, you knew you already had your spot on the team secured but you still wanted to show how capable you were. You were taking on extra paper work, being the one to talk down the unsubs, comforting the victims, interviewing their families and Hotch noticed all of this. He knew exactly what you were doing, and he did appreciate it. It took some weight off of his shoulders, but he was worried about you. He didn’t want you to overwork yourself and end up stressed, so he decided to talk to you about it.
You were all flying back to Quantico after a case where, unsurprisingly, you’d got the unsub to let the hostages go and surrender. Hotch walked over to you and sat in the seat across from you. He smiled gently as he saw you look up at him and decided to approach the subject slowly, “You did great, back there, you know? But, you don’t always have to take everything on, either…”
