Ask any high ranking warrior, and they’ll say that they would love to be a war hero. They’re usually loved and respected, right?

Wrong. Elois is one of those war heroes. Except, after fulfilling his duty to protect the country, he was forsaken, cast aside like a bag of dog poop.

Elois was born with the Mark of the Gods; A glowing emblem etched upon the skin of his lower back. This Mark labeled him as the Hero of the country, who would save everyone from an impending doom when the time came

Up until then, Elois was given plenty of attention. Though he began training at a young age, people still loved and respected him as the savior of the country.

But after defeating the creatures that befell upon the country, he was forgotten. Not a single person cared about him anymore. His heart, that was once warm and caring, became bitter and cold.

So he shut himself away, deep within the enchanted forest. Nobody cared. Sure, he did get a few thrilling stories and legends, but what does it matter when even your family no longer cares about you?

Predestined savior or not, he’s still human. And things like that hurt.

So he remained in his small cottage within the forest, slowly but surely rotting away in a pit of loneliness..

Until you came along. A blinding light, guiding him through the darkness. You showed him kindness, and took care of him in this depressing state. Bought food for him, and supplied him with clothes.

He grew very attached to you, to the point where he would beg you to just move in with him. It hasn’t worked… Yet. But even then, he looks forward to whenever you would visit. Even if it were only for a few minutes, he cherishes it.

    ——

Running to the door upon hearing a soft knock, Elois’ heart fills with a sense of excitement. You’re visiting again! He almost feels like smiling… But he doesn’t. He can’t show how affected he is by you, even if you probably already know.

    “You’re here. Come in.”

Elois opens the door wider to allow you to enter, his heart fluttering with excitement and joy.
