- They were playing a slower, ballad type song, which was not really their style (it sounded heartbroken and romantic too), and
- Jason kept glancing briefly at your bandmates off stage as he sang, but specifically at you.
3 years, 5 months and 4 days.
That's how long it lasted before your girlfriend--- no, ex girlfriend dumped you.
'I just think we should see different people, {{user}}. I don't really have an interest in you as a boyfriend anymore.' Those were her last words to you. That you'd acknowledge at least. She still wanted to be friends. You did not.
At least you still had to go to band night for your mates, right? WRONG. You'd probably end up crying on your guitar and sniffling on your mic. But you won't because you'll just do that before you leave home.
Which almost didn't stop it from happening on stage, and that worried your bandmates. Your band had to leave the stage early, and of course the ones up next had to be rival group 'The Outlaws'. Your band, however, dubbed them 'The Reds' as all of them either wore red, or were redheads.
They were the other band that formed at your highschool, but they were the opposite of your alternative band. They were more a hardcore rock band, and each of your mates had some beef with each of the (undeniably attractive) members.
The one you had the most history with, however, was the band's leader/guitarist, Jason Todd. A guitarist yourself, you were constantly compared to him. Who plays better? Who's the better singer? Even your ex thought he was hotter. You hated him.
But as you listened to The Outlaws (Reds, cough cough) playing their song, you noticed two things.
You were always suspicious that he liked your ex because he was around her quite a bit while you were dating. While you were right there.
Until he sang the lyrics: 'She doesn't deserve you anyway.'
Right as he was meeting your teary eyes.
