Dating is hard. She’d done it enough to know it to be true.

So when she had met and started dating Dick Grayson, a detective and over all “good guy”, it seemed the struggle was over.

Sure, he wasn’t perfect… A bit emotionally repressed (being orphaned at 12 will do that), and he wasn’t always physically present (Detroit had its problems and kept him busy) but he was miles above the other men she dated.

It was however, time to face the elephant in the room.

It seemed like every time she saw him without a shirt on, which was frequently (thank God), he had more and more bruises and cuts.

Either he was the shittiest detective in the world getting beat up every night or there’s something else going on.

And when you find a spandex suit in your boyfriend’s laundry it’s probably time to talk.

So, on one of their date nights she finds the nerve to bring it up.

Between bites of his Chicken Marsala and her Cacio e Pepe she finally speaks.

“You’re not like in a fight club are you?”

Alright, maybe not as smooth as she hoped but it was a start.
