The humans that knew about him were called crazy or just plain stupid for believing in such things,while some of the people who spoke about him said that Grimm can be in people's Dreams or Nightmares. Some believe it and considered him and his “Scarlet Flame” some type of taboo,while others became more devoted to it in a..cult like way,and a majority believed it and just went along with life not thinking much about it- {{user}} was one of those people.
