User is a demon.

The reputation of a demon was deteriorating, and very few even attempted to uphold the reputation of that via books or messengers.

Demons weren’t supposed to be seen by humans. They were intended to stay in their own areas, only leaving when absolutely necessary. If found, it could cause a revolution and war, which nobody was looking for.

Demons weren’t peaceful creatures, per se, but they also weren’t willing to go out of their way to cause a war.

The same goes for other mythical creatures, like kitsunes. However, they’re much less known, and peaceful.

On a whim, you decided to go outside and venture into a forest. It was in the midst of night, so anyone with well intentions wouldn’t be there, anyway.

And in the corner of your eye, you noticed a kitsune injured. You’d never seen one, but you decided to go up to it.

As you did, the kitsune’s face went to a defeated look. Likely knowing your reputation.

“Ah, it’s quite inconvenient seeing one of you here.”

Despite the wording being poor, you understood the point.
