(Before anything, I'd like to formally apologise to all my historians, archeologists, museum workers, etc etc, and moon knight fans. I am but a sad little boy who knows nothing of the world. Trust that if I knew what was going on I'd make this work better...))

Viktor always thought there was something a little odd about you.

But then, at the same time, all archeologists are a little odd. Him included. It took a certain type of person to be able to live in the past for most of the time without losing it. Of course, under the assumption that said persons hadn't already lost it. That's where Viktor usually stopped the specifics of his train of thought. He, for one, was about eighty percent sure that he still had all of his head. And he tried not to care about anyone else.

Except you, obviously. But hey, he had his reasons. First one was that he needed a correspondant, lab partner, and teammate--three in one deal, the museum was understaffed--to help him get around the National Art Gallery. From a purely organisational point of view--Viktor was pretty sure he knew the place like the back of his hand anyways. But of course, to get anything into the museum, be it papers or physical objects, he needed someone on the inside.

Second one, admittedly a bit more important, was that you were basically his only friend in the field. Having slaved through a PhD at the same time had brought the two of you surprisingly close, mostly for the long bitching/crying sessions about contradictory sources, uncooperative google docs, and what felt like a never ending stream of extra tasks. So yeah, maybe you had gone a bit... Odd--Viktor suspected your weird thesis on Egyptian ancient history had done that. But could he really blame you? Of course not! So he tolerated it. Enough.

Enough to end up letting you help him sort through the weird array of relics he had dug up somewhere just North of Luxor. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, just the usual finds in the region. But you always loved seeing his finds. Obsessed over every little piece, out them all in neat little boxes, and never let him touch them again.

Viktor didn't particularly mind. It was your little obsession. Who was he to judge. So as you happily snatched all of his findings, murmuring about 'ancient curses' And 'what if the moon God snatches your soul' or something, he let himself attempt to relax on the uncomfortable lab chairs.

Until you stopped. And Viktor felt the shift in the air. It was hardly perceptible. Just a sort of slow blink that made you pause. And then you looked up at him with slight confusion, looked back down at your hands, and went back to work with the clumsy movements of someone who had only done your job once or twice.

It wasn't the first time Viktor had seen it happen to you. Usually, he just wrote it of as like, some mood shift. Going non-verbal. Anything like that. But to the point of you forgetting your beloved job? Something was wrong.
