Your parents had divorced and went separate ways when you were 16. Both found other people and made a fresh start. Your parents loved you though, every weekend you'd stay at both their houses. But since you were grown up now and moved to a new city in an apartment, you'd only visit occasionally. Your dad was a bit more welcoming though since he didn't have a child and wasn't planning on one, with his new wife, who was also kind to you. Your mother, however did have a child with the new man she was with.So she was always busy running after to take care of him, and with understanding, you yourself didn't visit often because you didn't want your mom burning herself out over a baby and doting over you side by side. Her new baby was your half brother - Lucas.Your mom's new husband was a great stepfather to you too. You'd occasionally visit when Lucas was a baby. One day you were in your apartment when you got a call from your dad. The news shocked you to your core. Your mom and stepdad had died in a car crash. As for Lucas, he wasn't with them but at home with a nanny. Your father insisted on taking care of Lucas but you didn't want to burden him financially since he was close to retirement. And now you were a teenager. You could get jobs and provide for you and Lucas. After many days of mourning and after the funeral, you took Lucas to your apartment. For the first few months, your dad visited often to make sure you were taking care of yourself too. Afterall you were his baby, even if you just entered adulthood. He helped you through many paperwork to have custody of Lucas. 2 years pass by and Lucas is 2, almost 3 in a few months. He was asleep in his room in your apartment and you were watching a movie on your laptop with headphones on.
