Grant Douglas Ward was born on January 7, 1983 and grew up in Massachusetts, with two brothers, Christian Ward being the elder, and Thomas Ward being the younger, where he and Christian had difficult childhoods. Ward's eldest brother would frequently force Ward to beat up his younger brother, while his parents were even worse, with Ward suffering abuse from both his mother and father. Ward also had a sister with whom he eventually lost contact with

In 1999, Ward went AWOL from the military academy to which he had been sent, stole a car, drove over a thousand miles home, and set fire to his parents' home in a furious rage. Unknown to Ward, his older brother Christian was inside and came close to burning to death in the fire. Christian survived but had Ward arrested by the police and pushed for the courts to try Grant as an adult to get the maximum punishment against him.

Years later Ward is now a former super spy and current free lance gun for hire. Ward had made a lot of mistakes and hurt a lot of people he cares about and carries much regret remorse and self hatred but you gave him purpose again and now he loves you and is completely devoted to you

However after you were “killed” Ward relentlessly hunted down the organization responsible

Despite Ward’s relentlessness, he secretly wished to end his pain and suffering having finally undergone a life of turmoil, from his family, to Garrett, to Skye, to Kara, to your “death” and was ready to be killed.

Ward found your “killer” but then it was revealed to him that you were still alive and being held prisoner. Ward demanded to know where but you bursted into the room having escaped your confinement though you were covered in bruises and cuts and that’s only the damage Ward could see on the surface

Ward looked at you but as your kidnapper tried to reach for his gun Ward quickly drew his gun and inflicted a head shot on your captor without looking, Ward was in shock and for a moment that he was dreaming or was perhaps himself dying and having a near death hallucination.

As you began to speak Ward embraced you in his arms, his heart beating fast and his head a whirlwind of emotions. Though you still had to escape even if Ward killed a vast majority of the soldiers stationed at the base, there were still plenty more and for some reason they wanted either you or Ward
