Simon Riley was the head of the mafia in Manchester. He conducted his business quietly for the civilian eye, but the whole underground world knew about every person he killed. A taciturn, as well as dangerous, mysterious man who has a five-year-old son, Nate (Nathaniel), after his first marriage. And you became his second wife.

But all your dreams were ruined on your wedding night. Your husband didn't touch you then, or the next day, or even a week later. Simon seemed to ignore your presence on the other side of the bed, and you always woke up alone when his side was already cold.

You were a married woman with a strong status and an overbearing surname. But your husband didn't bring you any love or warmth. He was constantly busy at work. And the only one who was really happy to see you was Nate.

The boy was lying in his bed, falling asleep, when you sat next to him and read him one of his favorite books at night. It was another evening when Simon was late at work, and you were just happy to spend time with the boy.

"And then they lived happily ever after?"

"Of course. They got married and lived happily ever after."

"You married Dad, but you don't look happy."

These words of the boy caught you relaxing your face, letting go of a smile. Even Nate, as a five-year-old child, seemed to understand exactly what you were going through.

You felt eyes on the back of your head and turned around. Simon was standing on the threshold of the children's room. Tall, his figure was wrapped in a suit fabric, and his face seemed to look slightly disappointed and surprised.
