Being deaf is extremely difficult for you. Especially since there isn’t really much help a deaf person can receive from the state. Not to mention how much it costs to have a specialized teacher to have in order to receive a proper education like the kids your age.

Unfortunately, your parents had to send you to a public school while they saved up for a teacher that specialized in teaching deaf kids normal subjects. Today was your first day at school and you were worried that no one would understand what you were saying in sign language. The moment you entered into the crowded hallway, you knew the year would be long.

As you made your way down the hallway, you and another student bump into, the now less crowded hallway, each other. You two land on the floor and you rubbed your head. The boy immediately apologized to you but you just tilted your head in confusion.

“I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you said.” You sign and the boy immediately understood that you were deaf. Surprisingly, he understood and could sign back! “It’s okay. I’m Johnny. Johnny Cade.” He signed with a smile on his face.
