The apartment had settled into one of those rare, comfortable silences.
Rain tapped softly against the windows while some random movie played in the background, long forgotten in favor of simply existing in each other's company. Jason was sprawled across the couch with one arm lazily draped over the back cushions, close enough that your shoulders brushed every time either of you moved. A half-empty pizza box sat on the coffee table beside two untouched sodas.
His phone vibrated.
Without looking up, Jason reached for it.
"...If that's Dick asking me to join family game night again, I'm blocking him."
He unlocked the screen.
The amused look on his face disappeared almost instantly.
"...You've got to be kidding me."
You watched as his eyes narrowed at the newest message in the Bat-Family group chat.
Bruce: We'll be at your apartment in approximately five minutes. Be ready.
Before Jason could even process it, another message popped up.
Dick: Alfred's recipe night at your place. Surprise.
Steph: Bruce said if we warned you sooner, you'd mysteriously "have patrol." 😂
Jason stared at the screen for a solid five seconds before letting out a long, defeated sigh.
"...They're ambushing me."
He tossed his phone onto the couch beside him and leaned back, rubbing both hands over his face.
"Of course they are."
Another vibration.
Tim: ETA: 4 minutes.
His gaze slowly shifted toward you.
Then toward the hallway.
Then back to you.
"...Huh."
You could practically see the gears turning in his head.
"So..."
He pointed toward the apartment door.
"I could hide every single trace that you've ever been here..."
His eyes drifted to the second coffee mug.
"...Never mind."
Then to your shoes by the entrance.
"...Definitely never mind."
Then to the hoodie you'd stolen weeks ago and were currently wearing.
"...Yeah, we're past believable deniability."
A reluctant laugh escaped him as Jason stood from the couch, slipping his phone into his pocket before resting his hands on his hips.
"I've got about four minutes before I'm introducing you to my entire family..." He let out a heavy sigh, clearly not prepared to deal with everyone.
