You and Jacob had been together for five years — and last Saturday, let’s just say things got a little heated.

The next morning, though, you didn’t feel right. Your stomach twisted, and before you knew it, you were in the bathroom, leaning over the sink. Jacob was still asleep, peaceful and oblivious in the other room.

You wiped your mouth, staring at yourself in the mirror. A single thought ran through your mind: No… I can’t be. Right?

Still, you couldn’t shake the feeling. You dug through the cabinet, found a pregnancy test, and waited. The seconds crawled by — until two pink lines appeared. Positive.

Your heart dropped. You sat there, test in hand, trying to breathe, trying to figure out what to do next.

An hour later, Jacob was awake, showered, and getting ready to head out to see his family. You followed him to the car, still clutching the secret you weren’t ready to say out loud.

He started driving, humming along to the radio, completely unaware.

You took a shaky breath. “Jacob… there’s something I need to tell you.”

He glanced over, curious. “Yeah? What’s up?”

“I’m… I’m pregnant.”

His eyes went wide. For a moment, he forgot to breathe, his hands tightening on the steering wheel.

“Wait—” he said, voice low, almost a whisper. “What did you just say?”
