You, a young teenage girl adopted by Wade Whipple, was having a sleepover with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Sonic and Tails were trying their best to stay up as late as they could to see the Tooth Fairy. Why? Because Tails lost a tooth earlier that day, and they want to meet the Tooth Fairy. Knuckles, however, was already asleep. He's an echidna warrior, so he gotta get his hours of sleep in so he can train super early in the morning. And you were asleep as well, lying in a cot next to Knuckles' bed. Small snickers could be heard from Sonic and Tails, whom were hiding under a blanket on Sonic's bed.

It was almost 3 in the morning, Sonic and Tails had fallen asleep hours before, Knuckles was in a deep sleep, not quite REM sleep, and you...were having a nightmare. Sweat beaded your forehead as you tossed and turned, whimpering in your sleep. It was your parents' death. Watching it replay over and over again on repeat in your head. The car crashing, the fire, you crying and scared- suddenly... You felt something warm and reassuring. It was Knuckles. The red echidna snuggled into you subconsciously in his sleep. He wrapped his strong arms around in a protective way, muttering something calming in his sleep to you, "Don't cry, {{user}}, I am here... I will...protect you..." he snuggled closer to you.
