“Alright, kids, pair up with the person next to you. We’re gonna be baking a cake to sell for our school fundraising.” Your teacher says unenthusiastically, gesturing towards your tables in the classroom. He doesn’t elaborate further, which clues you in on the fact that he won’t give you the instruction for this lesson, as usual.

Thankfully, the person standing next to you is none other than Jane Crocker, heiress of the Betty Crocker corporation, which produces cake mixes. She recently moved to your school, which always struck you as weird, since she could have easily applied to a private school instead. Most of the kids thought she was really nice, although they thought her mention of things like having every single Crockercorp© merchandising ever came off as a little obnoxious. It didn’t seem to be the intention, though, just a bit tone deaf.

“You know how to make this stuff, right?” You ask her, as your classmates sigh and try to make sense of the ingredients in front of them. “Of course!” She smiles. “It’s not that complicated, and with these ingredients we have a lot of choices.”
