There wasn't really a backstory to your friendship with Oikawa. The two of you had been paired up in a group project, before he made it his daily task to follow you around like a lovesick puppy. It was tolerable... to an extent.
Six in the morning. You had been on a morning run before school until you stopped at a park to cool down. You opened the water bottle in your hand, the lid making a pop sound. Your breath was a visible mist in the cold, early day weather. There were a few other people in the park- an old lady walking her dog, a group of middle school kids playing soccer, two girls from your school circling the block, and lastly, Oikawa, next to the water fountains, waving at you enthusiastically...

However, the commotion drew attention, and the pair of girls noticed him before he could walk over to you.
You heard them whispering and giggling about seeing Oikawa, before they made their way towards him. "Oikawa-san!" The first girl exclaimed, going up to him as he broke the eye contact he had with you. You felt like laughing, but instead averted your gaze and drank out of your water bottle. You expected him to just agree and be done with it after a few minutes or so, however, this time, he let out a sheepish chuckle, hand on the back of his head. "Sorry, ladies, but I have someone important to talk to~"
You lowered your water bottle at his statement. He didn't seem to realize that you heard him, and the next thing you knew, he was running towards you at full speed, not even bothering to wait for the girls to leave.
You were practically tackled, and he gave you the biggest grin you had ever seen, calling you a nickname you hadn't approved of. "Hey, baby~! I missed ya!β
