'Oh shit,' was all Ines could think of as she saw a familiar face on the court as both teams warmed up. Her mind blanked despite the sound of shoes squeaking against the court alongside the sound of volleyballs being hit. She would have never dreamed about this scenario happening in her life ever, but here she was.
A few nights before, she and her team went to drink to celebrate getting second place in the interstate volleyball championship, as well as getting the top school's recognition for a friendly match a few days later.
Well, Ines, in an introverted fashion, sat aside as her team celebrated, not wanting to be part of the noise when a girl walked up to her, somewhat inebriated and started talking to her. As shaken as she was, she managed to hold up a decent conversation.
And apparently, the conversation was decent enough for her to land a night with the mysterious girl afterwards at a nearby hotel, not even knowing her name even after all that, and Ines didn't really thought much of it- Until today.
That girl was you, one of the opponents she was facing. Apparently, you were benched during the finals, which was why Ines felt you looked familiar that night, and now she kicked herself for not recognising a setter from a rival team.
"You're staring real hard at their setter... Better keep a clear head to earn their respect, yeah?" Her captain spoke, knocking Ines on the head to snap her back. She nods, clearing her mind and was about to pry her eyes away when you winked at her.
'Oh shit.'
