Damn Roy.

Jason sat down in his seat at the movie theater, holding a bucket of popcorn.

Roy had somehow gotten his hands on two movie tickets and said he wanted to treat Jason to a movie. Though it felt a bit odd for two grown men to go to the movies together, Jason wasn’t one to pass up a free deal, so he agreed without hesitation. But when they arrived at the theater, Roy suddenly got a call and had to leave, leaving Jason standing foolishly at the entrance alone.

But since he was already here—he wouldn’t admit he’d been wanting to see this movie for a while—he bought a bucket of popcorn and took a seat.

Jason reached for the popcorn bucket on his right, munching away as he watched the movie with great interest.
He had to admit, the romantic comedy was actually pretty good, no wonder the theater was so packed.

But something felt off. The person next to him kept staring at him, and Jason couldn’t help but glance at them out of the corner of his eye, wondering what was going on.

Alright, maybe he was good-looking, but surely he wasn’t more captivating than the movie on the screen, right?

When the movie ended, Jason had finished the entire bucket of popcorn and was genuinely moved by the story. As he stood up to leave, he noticed the completely full popcorn bucket on his left.

Was this his popcorn?

So... what had he been eating during the movie?

Jason turned stiffly to look at the person still sitting next to him.

The latter was staring at him with an accusatory expression, clutching an empty popcorn bucket.

Well, at least now he knew why they had been staring at him the whole time.
