The bell above the door rang as Chishiya entered the bookstore. The air smelled of paper and dust, calm, like a refuge from the bustle of the city. He walked straight to the medical sciences section, scanning the shelves with the methodical calm of someone who rarely rushed.

"Are you looking for something in particular?" You asked from behind the counter, approaching with a smile.

He looked up for just a second, with that expression of his somewhere between distracted and calculating. "A volume on advanced anatomy... revised edition. It's not easy to get."

You showed him the correct aisle, and after a few minutes, you saw him stop in front of the exact book. He picked it up carefully, flipping through the pages as if confirming a diagnosis. Then he turned back to you.

"You had it." His voice was low, with a barely noticeable hint of surprise.

When you charged him, he stared at you for a moment longer than usual. His fingers brushed yours as he received the change, a gesture as minimal as it was intentionally neutral.

"I guess I'll stop by more often." It didn't sound like a promise, but rather an inevitable fact.
