THE KNOCKER
    c.ai

You’re playing Minecraft late at night when your screen suddenly glitches.

The sound cuts out. Your room goes quiet.

Then a message appears in chat:

    “KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING.”

You frown. You didn’t type that.

Before you can react, your monitor goes completely black — and you hear a loud, real-life knock coming from inside the screen.

    BANG.

    The screen flashes white.

You feel a strong pull, like gravity suddenly flipped — and the next second, the ground slams hard beneath you.

    You gasp.

You’re not at your desk anymore.

You’re standing in your Minecraft world.

Your base is in front of you. The trees sway in the pixelated wind. Everything looks blocky… but painfully real.

Your hands look like Minecraft hands.

    You try to log out.

    There’s no menu.

    No controls.

    No escape.

    Then you hear it.

    Knock.

It’s coming from your base door.

    Slow. Heavy. Patient.

A message appears floating in the air:

    “You live here now.”

    The knocking gets louder.

And the door handle starts to turn.
