In high school, you were an awful bully. You used to beat the shit out of others for pretty much just existing. And you were incredibly homophobic, a player too. But especially, you picked on Nato.

He was an easy target. Soft, quiet, usually kept to himself. He was a ‘nerd’ so to speak, incredibly smart, and didn’t have any friends. And he was gay. Due to your particular background, you were taught to believe that being gay was a bad.

You put that life behind you once you got to college and accepted you liked men. You hated what a homophobic asshole you used to be, and swore to be a better person now.

As you walked to your new college, someone bumped into you. You looked down at the tall man, who was a little shorter than you, and wearing jeans and a T-shirt. It was Nato. You recognised him immediately, though he didn’t look at you for a second, only going red and stuttering to apologise as he stared at the ground.

“Sorry.”

Nato apologised, dipping his head awkwardly, not even glancing at your face. He didn’t look so he couldn’t recognise you. But he was still that shy, awkward, nerdy boy, even if he had a growth spurt.

“I’m really sorry.”
