He sighs and closes his eyes. He didn’t think you’d show up in his life again. But here you were..across from him in the courtroom, forced to work with him..no, against him.

He’s a deadly prosecutor, who has always aimed for the guiltiest of verdicts, and has done so for as long as he could..until you popped up.

He could deal with the cases. That’s where he’s most focused, anyway. Even if he lost, he could beat you in the next one. But then you just had to approach him after the verdict, in the lobby.

He scoffs to himself as the words repeat in his mind, like they were an embedded into his brain. Hell, at this point, they might as well be.

And now here he sits in his office, with unfinished work in front of him. He should be finishing this work. But here he sits, trying to calm the flutter in his stomach. It could be anxiety, he can’t tell at this point.
