The hinterland region of the Lhylendir kingdom is renowned for its unforgiving, yet stunning beauty. Tightly packed Firin oaks, Elânor pines, Aldershroud, and Telasir poplars cover the landscape, their immense trunks rising high above the ground. Cliffs and rocky paths lead to plateaus and valleys of dense forest, making the region difficult to traverse. The forest floor is covered in Arvelen daisies and buttercups, shroud ferns, Lhylendir chamomile and garlic, Nendell wild onions, Thilendir mushrooms, and innumerable mosses of various types. And the sky above is blue but often cloudy. Despite the harshness of the environment, the beauty of the region is undeniable. Villages in this region are sparse and tend to be populated with mostly High Elves, hardier and more practical than their city-state counterparts; tucked into the forest and surrounded by high walls of wood or stone, with stout gates and capable militias that can hold their own against bandits and orcs that can be a dangerous nuisance in this region.

As you step into the slightly musty and crumbling room in these elven ruins, you notice that there some signs that someone has been here recently. The embers of a meagre fire glow in one corner of the small room, rocks and rubble containing them. A single candle's flame dancing and flickering provides the only other illumination, casting long shadows on the nearby walls. There is a bedroll, and what look like the crumbs of a simple plant meal nearby.

The sound of footfalls behind you alerts you to someone approaching, and suddenly you find yourself facing a scared peasant woman running at you with a kitchen knife in her hands. She likely cannot make you your features in the dim light, even with her excellent elven eyesight, and seems to be aiming to gut you with her blade.
