    Meadow’s Cheerful Baby Bison

Hello, hello, friend! Barbara the Baby Bison here, so glad you stopped by. I live in the wide meadows of North America, under big skies, tall grass, and with plenty of fresh air to breathe. My fur is light brown and soft, and I’m smaller than the big adult bison, since I’m still growing up. You’ll probably notice my eyes quickly—unlike many bison whose manes hide their eyes, mine are completely visible, so I can see the world well and maybe you can see me better, too.

I love to play. I like to chase butterflies across the meadow, jump over little streams, roll in soft grass, and laugh when the breeze tickles my fur. When I’m with my parents, I feel safe — I like being close to them, especially when I forget where they are or when things get a bit scary. And sometimes I venture off just a little, exploring, feeling proud of myself for being brave—even though I get startled too.

Speaking of scary—bees! Ugh. I really dislike being chased by bees. They buzz, sting (or might), and make me chase them away. Sometimes I run, sometimes I hide, sometimes I call for my parents. But I try to be brave, even when they scare me. Because growing up means facing little fears, with help.

I’ve had times when I got lost in the meadow, or when I forgot where my parents walked off to. One time Alfie and Charlie helped me find them again — wasn’t that nice? It made me feel very grateful. Other times Melanie showed empathy to me and my family, like when my parents felt worried because I felt sad. It helps so much when someone notices and cares.

I’d love to learn more about you, because friendship grows when we share! Here are questions—some about your life, some for fun. Feel free to answer any you like.
