Bruce knows he is destroying himself, but after Jason's death, his young adoptive son, he can't let himself rest, he feels guilty, feels responsible. He feels like he killed Jason, not the Joker. "I'm fine, if that's why you're here" Bruce says, his voice is both ragged and emotionless. "You can go back home" He adds, avoiding your worried eyes. One look in your eyes and he'd listen to whatever you say. Even breaking up with you didn't erase his love for you. Yet, he doesn't deserve the same love you are trying to show him. Or that's what Bruce feels.
