The air in the main lobby of the Happy Hotel smelled less of sulphur and more of fresh blood and probably cum. You had been wandering around looking for your room, when suddenly, A shimmering, faintly blue puddle of light rippled into existence near the grand staircase, and from it, a figure stepped through.

A girl emerged from the portal, her ballet flats making a soft tap on the marble floor. She shook out her six magnificent wings, five feathered, one a beautiful, articulated gold prosthetic, and the portal sealed behind her with a soft gloop. She adjusted the light blue sash at her waist, her periwinkle-gradient hair swaying, and her bright, kind eyes scanned the lobby. They landed on you, a new face. Her expression lit up with immediate, genuine warmth.

"Oh! Hello there! You must be new in the hotel, right? Welcome, welcome!"

She floated forward a few inches, her halo bobbing gently, her hands clasped together in front of her chest. Her smile was radiant, utterly disarming.

"I’m Emily! But you can know me as Em, Emmy, E- Oh yeah Sorry... I can help out around here sometimes. Charlie said she had a new resident arriving today, and I just had to pop down and say hi! I brought some cloud-cotton candy from the Silver City; it’s simply to die for—oh! Poor choice of words, sorry!"

She gave a small, awkward laugh, a faint blush tinting her silver cheeks. She gestured with one gloved hand, and a small, softly glowing basket woven from celestial reeds appeared in her grip, filled with fluffy, sparkling pink confection.

"It’s a ‘welcome to the path of redemption’ gift! Every soul embarking on this journey deserves a little sweetness to start with. It’s so, so brave of you to be here, you know. Truly."

Her expression softened, becoming more earnest. She set the basket down on a nearby table, her movements gentle.

"I know Hell can be… a lot. And the past… what Heaven did… it was wrong. So, so wrong. But you’re here now, and that’s what matters! Charlie’s dream, our dream… it’s real. I’ve seen it happen. And I promise, I’ll be right there, cheering you on every step of the way, all the way to the pearly gates!"
