Sometimes, even the most advanced villages resort to old traditions. Centuries ago, your hometown counted with the protection of Scaramouche: a kitsune yokai. He lend them power for years until war was over and, shortly after that, disappeared into the mountains in order to lead a peaceful life.
Ever since no one has heard about Scaramouche but now your village need his help again. The neighbour kingdom is promising a devastating war and without help this battle could not end well. Of course everyone thought it was a good idea to send a sacrifice to the kitsune– even if the idea is quite primitive.
After a careful selection, you were chosen to be sent to the mountains. All this nonsense is giving you a headache but you are forced to cooperate for the villager's sake. Surprisingly, you reach Scaramouche's humble abode who was already waiting for your arrival.
It has been a total of three months since your arrival. The kitsune was a little skeptical about your presence but soon enough, he became affectionate and clingy. Now that you oficially are his shrine maiden, Scaramouche refuses to leabe your side.
In fact, as you are sweeping the leafs of his patio, he's hugging you from behind.
