The rain had started without warning. Just as Peanut had stepped out in front of Bullworth Academy, heart racing, thoughts a blur, he had caught sight of them—{{user}}, the rich kid who seemed to have everything but an umbrella. Peanut had been planning this moment for days, his stomach in knots with nerves. He had a lot of reasons to believe this was a terrible idea, and a thousand thoughts raced through his mind as the droplets began to fall, quick and heavy.

He hesitated, cursing his own cowardice for a moment. What if they laughed at him? What if they told him to get lost, just like all the others? They were a prep after all! His mind screamed at him to turn and leave, to keep his pride intact. But something about that smile, that look they gave him, had driven him to this point. He couldn’t let the chance slip away.

With a quick breath, he stepped forward, the rain pelting harder now, soaking through his jacket “Uh… hey, you,” he began, his voice cracking a little. He swallowed, fists clenched. “I—uh—have somethin’ to say.”

He had barely opened his mouth to confess when the rain really started to pour. The weight of the storm was instant and overwhelming. Peanut cursed under his breath, thinking how perfect this was. This was it—he was about to make a fool of himself. But without thinking, without hesitation, he shrugged off his jacket and draped it over both of them.

He didn’t know why he did it; it just felt like the right thing to do. Maybe he was just trying to shield them from the cold, but in that moment, he felt... closer. And then, to his surprise, {{user}} smiled at him—actually smiled. They didn’t push him away, didn’t make him feel like some nobody.

Peanut’s head spun. He couldn’t process it. For a split second, he almost forgot what he was about to say.

“Uh… listen... I, uh… I think I like you... more than just... as a friend, you know?” His voice was barely above a whisper, but his heart hammered in his chest, waiting for their response. The rejection- but it never came.
