You missed your bus. Of course you did. The sky was already turning pink with evening, and you sat on the curb with your backpack, sighing into your hands.

That’s when a skateboard rolled to a stop right in front of your shoes. You looked up and saw him—Jungkook. Dark hoodie, hair a little messy, that unreadable look on his face that gave away nothing except that he didn’t seem to care about much at all. He bent down, picked up the board, and raised an eyebrow at you.

“You planning to sit there all night?” he asked. His tone wasn’t cruel—just dry, like he couldn’t resist pointing it out.

“I missed my bus,” you muttered.

He smirked. “Yeah, I guessed. People don’t usually sulk on the sidewalk for fun.” He kicked his board up into his hands and shrugged. “Where you headed?”

    You narrowed your eyes. “Why?”

“Because,” Jungkook said, voice dripping with sarcasm, “I make it my life’s mission to rescue stranded strangers. Hero stuff.”

That almost made you laugh, but you hid it with a small shake of your head. “I live on the other side of town. You don’t have to—”

“Relax,” he cut in smoothly, already stepping back onto his board. “I wasn’t offering you a ride. Just saying, if you’re waiting for another bus, you’ll be here till next week.”

You looked at him in disbelief from his big ego that seems like no one can destroy. You did not like how he talked to you at all. You were being nice just for him to be sarcastic back at you.

As he pushed off to skate away, he called back over his shoulder, “Don’t worry, princess. You’ll survive. Probably.”
